The Observatory Gornergrat South is made available to pupils, students, visitors at Gornergrat as well as to the general public through the project ‘Stellarium Gornergrat’. It is designed to enable observations on site or via remote control of the telescope over the internet. The station offers astronomical observations together with pedagogical programmes.
In autumn 2021, the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences accepted an application from the Stellarium Gornergrat for funding under the MINT (Mathematics, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Technology) programme 2021 – 2024. With the spoken MINT support, the existing German- and French-language offer will be improved in a first step and it will be worked on this subject-didactically. Activities that have already been started will be finalized and synchronized between the two languages. In a second step, it is planned to significantly expand the offer and to extend it to the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland.
