The Sphinx-observatory as a banknote motif
Switzerland is getting new banknotes. Each banknote features a different elevation in Switzerland—in keeping with the theme of the new series: “Switzerland and its elevations.”
The banknote series features pastel tones and retains the existing color scheme. On one side, various native plants adorn the notes; on the other, motifs from architecture, culture, transportation, and the landscape are depicted.
The 1000 CHF note features, among other things, the Sphinx-observatory at Jungfraujoch.
The banknotes presented here are drafts. The final appearance of the notes may differ significantly from these designs. The SNB’s Bank Council has the final say. The new series is expected in the early 2030s at the earliest.
