The use of the University of Bern’s network at Jungfraujoch research station is subject to the university’s security regulations (in German only). It is prohibited to alter or expand network components of the network of the Research Station Jungfraujoch unless explicitly approved by the Abteilung Informatikdienste of the Universität Bern. In particular, wireless equipment of any kind that augments the network of the Research Station Jungfraujoch and the use of managed switches must first be approved by the Informatikdienste of the Universität Bern. In addition, it is strictly forbidden to enable a DHCP server daemon on your system that assigns IP addresses to systems physically connected to the network of the University of Bern.
All working places in the Research Station and the Sphinx Laboratory are equipped with a connection to the network of the University of Bern. Systems (e.g. data-taking computers) that are permanently on internet need a static IP address. Static IP addresses can be obtained from the Foundation’s technical assistant. Costs for internet.
WLAN is available in the dining room, bedrooms, and in the library of the Forschungsstation. The SSID: ‘eduroam’ is available. Researchers from institution that are not member of eduroam, please contact the custodians.
