A group of the Institute for Aerosol and Sensor Technology of the University of Applied Sciences (FHNW) in Windisch did an intensive measurement campaign at Jungfraujoch in order to test a new volcanic ash sensor under ambient conditions. The researchers wanted to find out how well the sensor can discriminate various types of particles, such as water droplets, ice crystals and dust-like particles.
