Federal Councillor visits research station Jungfraujoch

On October 7, 2025, Federal Councillor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider visited our Jungfraujoch research station together with the management of the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH). The Federal Councillor opened Europe’s highest radioactivity measuring station.

The FOPH is responsible for monitoring radioactivity in the environment, particularly in the air. A new measuring station has been set up on the Jungfraujoch for this purpose. It continuously measures radioactivity so that, in the event of a radiological or nuclear incident, a possible radioactive cloud in Switzerland can be detected at an early stage (FOPH press release dated October 7, 2025).
