Swiss Commission of the High Altitude Research Station Jungfraujoch (SKHFJ)


The Research Station at Jungfraujoch is operated by the International Foundation High Altitude Research Stations Jungfraujoch and Gornergrat (HFSJG). The Swiss Commission of the High Altitude Research Station Jungfraujoch of the Swiss Academy of Sciences SCNAT (short Jungfraujoch-Commission) represents the interests of Swiss researchers within the Foundation and also has a seat on the Board of the Foundation.

On October 14, 1922, the Swiss government commissioned the Schweizer Naturforschende Gesellschaft to plan and realize a research station at Jungfraujoch. Subsequently, the Naturforschende Gesellschaft established the Jungfraujoch-Commission, which was responsible for the accomplishment of this task. With success, as the research station at Jungfraujoch was opened in 1931.
