HFSJG Board Meeting in Zermatt

Every two years, the Foundation HFSJG holds a Board meeting. The last meeting took place on September 6, 2019 in Zermatt.

Prof. M. Leuenberger, Director HFSJG, and Prof. S. Decurtins, President HFSJG, conducted the meeting.

Delegates of all the member countries and institutions of the foundation were present, among others the delegate of the newly joined University of Helsinki.

During the meeting, the delegates elected two new corresponding members HFSJG: Prof. Heinz W. Gäggeler, President of the Jungfraujoch Commission (picture) as well as Prof. Martin C. E. Huber, former member and President of the Jungfraujoch Commission (not present at the meeting).

After the end of the administrative meeting, the guests and accompanying persons listened to an interesting guest lecture by Dr. Flavia Schlegel, International Science Council, Paris, on the topic ‘Above the Clouds and beyond the Stars. An Ambition for 2050’.

On Saturday, September 7, the board members and guests participated in an excursion to the Gornergrat to visit the Stellarium Gornergrat project and to listen to various short talks.
