Board Meeting HFSJG in Interlaken

On October 21, 2022 there was the Board Meeting of the International Foundation HFSJG in Interlaken.

Prof. S. Decurtins, President HFSJG, and Prof. M. Leuenberger, Director HFSJG, led through the meeting.

Delegates of the member countries and institutions were present at the meeting.

At the meeting the topic of the 100-year history of the research station was discussed (on October 14, 1922, on the initiative of A. de Quervain, the Federal Council commissioned the ‘Schweizerische Naturforschende Gesellschaft’ to build a research station on Jungfraujoch) as well as winning the EuChemS Historical Landmark Award 2021 in recognition of the pioneering work and exceptional ‘liaison reussie’ between the research group of Prof. Marcel Migeotte with collaborators from the University of Liege, Belgium and the Foundation HFSJG.

After the end of the administrative part of the meeting, Dr. Leander Diener, University of Zurich, gave an interesting lecture with the title ‘Science in the free sphere. A history of the High Altitude Research Station Jungfraujoch, 1922-1952’ for the participants and guests – matching the topic of the 100-years of history of the research station.
